The Senior Media and PR Officer role reports into a Media and PR Manager and supports the organization’s strategic objectives by delivering meaningful campaigns and stories across the following key areas: Fundraising, Caring Services, Policy and Research. This role will lead on working with case studies to secure consumer media coverage around the charity’s key campaigns.
This role sits within a wider Communications team, part of the Fundraising and Engagement directorate.
As well as supporting national PR and Media work, you will also support Community Fundraising, Business and Caring Services teams in an English region, where you will lead on PR to ensure we embed story-telling across all PR activities.
The Senior Media and PR Officer will be working in a busy, national PR team that oversees all contact with press and oversees the reputation of the charity. As such, the successful candidate will need to be able to balance multiple projects, shifting priorities and take part in the newsdesk and on-call rotas.
…Have experience working in a busy press office or news room, ideally in a charity setting but not essential
…Have a clear understanding of the consumer media landscape and women’s media in particular
…Be able to confidently and sensitively interview beneficiaries
…Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable liaising and influencing senior stakeholders both internally and externally
…Be calm under pressure, an efficient multitasker, have a good eye for a story and be able to assess what constitutes a reputational risk
…Be a strategic thinker and able to plan campaigns effectively, targeting different audiences based on sound research and insights
…An understanding of the health and social care space, and end of life care in particular, is advantageous but not essential. What is essential is your ability to learn fast and make our cause understandable and relatable to all
