We’re looking for someone with marketing and communications experience to join the Isle of Wight Portfolio to help share our work.

We need someone with experience in the delivery of engaging content across a number of channels from print to digital and you will need to be confident in advising colleagues across all of our sites on brand, marketing and communications. You’ll also have an eye for detail for a good story, with the skills and contacts to turn them into media opportunities.

What it's like to work here

The Trust owns and looks after 10% of the total area of the Isle of Wight, including 17 miles of coastline, many areas of outstanding natural beauty and several unique historic attractions and features. We have 16 holiday cottages in our care on the Isle of Wight ranging from one to seven bedroom properties.

You’ll be working with teams across the portfolio, volunteers and regional consultancy colleagues, who all have a shared passion for the work of the National Trust.

You’ll use your specialist knowledge, skills and experience to create content that can be shared both internally and externally.

What you'll be doing

Day to day, you will work closely with the Project Manager on the Compton Landscape Project on, amongst other things, stakeholder engagement. You’ll manage and help develop our annual marketing plan for the Isle of Wight portfolio to help achieve our ambitious targets, bringing in visitors and supporting our commercial activities. This will include defining advertising, creating promotional materials and updates (across all media platforms, including social media), writing and distributing press releases and representing us on location filming and broadcast media when you need to.

We're looking for someone who can help us reach larger and more diverse audiences for our places and our content. You will help to share the best stories we can to visit and support the work of the Isle of Wight portfolio.

Who we're looking for

You'll need to have a creative flair, with excellent written skills, as well as an eye for a great image or video content.

We’re looking for

someone with:

  • Practical experience in a marketing and/or communications role.
  • Experience of developing and implementing marketing and communications plans
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation; marketing codes, data protection, copyright and model release.
  • A proven track record in creating, using and editing content in different channels (web, social media, PR, email).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to spot potential risks to reputation and escalate them accordingly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to influence, advise and negotiate at all levels within the organisation and with external agencies.
  • Strong organisational skills being able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet measurable targets and deadlines.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of online presence and ways to promote visits to our website and social media channels.
  • Experience of managing volunteers.
  • The ability and willingness to travel across the island to work at the various sites.
