RHS Libraries is seeking a Digital Collections Manager to lead our digitisation team in London and manage an ambitious programme to deliver online access to our world class collection. The RHS holds the finest collection of horticultural literature in the world. In addition to rare books it also cares for extensive archival collections, botanical art works, photography, ephemera, artefacts and photographs relating to the rich history of gardening and garden plants. The collection has been awarded Designated Status under the Arts Council Designated Collection Scheme.
Reporting to the Head of Libraries and Exhibitions, the post holder will be responsible for managing a team of three to deliver the library’s digitisation, digital asset management and digital preservation programme. This role will make a key contribution to the development and delivery of a rich and engaging online presence of digitised and born-digital heritage collections, aiming to reach new audiences. The Library service has developed pilot online outputs with a view developing a searchable online collections platform to give access to our collection records and images in new and engaging ways. The post holder will also manage the library’s busy picture research and image delivery service to internal and external clients.
The successful candidate will be an experienced digital collections manager in the heritage sector, motivated to deliver an exceptional service, with experience in planning and delivering public-facing digital outputs.
