Our Communications Unit comprises teams covering media, digital, brand and marketing and partnerships. help bring to life Plan’s international and UK policy, programming and fundraising work.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dynamic media team. We’re raising awareness of issues that affect children, especially girls, all over the world, and we’re making girls’ voices heard with successful campaigns on issues like street harassment, period poverty, trafficking and sexual exploitation.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, organised and ambitious team player who knows how to tell compelling news stories, create engaging content and build effective relationships with journalists. In the role you will have the chance to work on national PR campaigns to raise the profile of our fundraising and campaigning work, developing your knowledge and expertise to find innovative ways to reach new and existing supporters through the media.
You’ll have some previous experience of working in a busy national press team and/or in a news/media organisation, preferably (though not exclusively) within the charity sector. Through this experience, you will have built relationships with appropriate media contacts, successfully identified and pitched stories, analysed and evaluated media coverage and written engaging copy with a media focus.
